Sarah Louise Lordan: Come As You Are-Pain Is Beauty

£240.00

Come As You Are explores the ways in which external entities have conditioned women to believe that they are not good enough as they are. While the outward sentiment of the project can be linked to unrealistic beauty standards, the underlying narrative is the psychosocial effects these expectations have on women’s sense of self, identity, and autonomy.

In every encounter, you are faced with a new process of understanding; not all of them cause the individual discomfort, but the ones that do present themselves within the imagery rearing their heads before settling into a certain level of understanding and apathy. Come As You Are represents an endless cyclical process of acceptance with existing as a human being in a complicated world.

Individual print size 20x30cm
