Sally Verrall’s work repositions the role of photography as propositional rather than referential, attributing object hood to that which is created through the lens but which can not be captured by it. What becomes represented instead is the buckling of experienced space, and the weaving together of a subjective psychological space. Each collage is a handcrafted, unique object and a metaphor for liminality.

About the artist

Sally Verrall, a British artist working with photography and collage. Sally creates sculptural compositions and reassemble their fixed perspectives to explore the interplay of surface and depth within the photograph. After earning Masters in Photography at the Royal College of Art, London, Sally was awarded the Photographers’ Gallery Graduates Award and was selected as artist in residence at Atlantic Center for the Arts, Florida. Since 2016, Sally has lived and worked in Padova, Italy.
